this rain in particular
or
what a difference a day makes
everything softens into it
lamplight edged
with dreaming dark
see it falling
hear tanks fill
this is the rain
with my name on it
this is a bath tonight
this is the washing tomorrow
as soon as the power's back on
this will be my cup of tea
nice!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful first verse in particular. And lovely shot of wet paddocks.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I did have to smile at the throwaway, 'as soon as the power's back on'.
DeleteHa ha ha, as soon as the power's back on.....very nice
ReplyDeletenice one, country wet
ReplyDeleteLovely poem. And reminds me to feel grateful for all this beautiful rain (although I was feeling snarky yesterday at lack of power, 8 year old boy climbing the walls, horses' feet a big mess, car damaged by branch etc) and how amazing it is to have plenty of water. I love the "power back on" line too!
ReplyDeleteLove it. Beautiful simplicity and wry humour.
