Chrysogonus' Translation #79 - from Claine Kelly's "She came to inform me of robbers"

Ia datang memberitahuku tentang perampok
seolah aku tidak tahu
walau aku telah berjalan melewati
toko-toko buku
dengan secangkir sakarin
merencanakan kejahatanku selanjutnya
katanya, ia telah mengikuti
selama aku berjalan lebih jauh
melewati penduduk setempat
menunggu Boori Ma
dan kuda-kuda tak bertali
dimulailah sekarang
“aku punya kemampuan
untuk mencinta”
kataku
“maka dari itu engkau
di sini, mengumpulkan sesuatu bagiku
Tapi kain perca ini sia-sia, kecuali
bagi binatang
pada kenyamanan mereka aku bergantung”

She came to inform me of robbers
as if I did not know
for I had walked by the
bookstores
with my cup of Sugarine
planning my next crime
she said she had followed
as I walked further
past the locals
waiting for Boori Ma
and the horses untethered
now it begins
"I have the power to
love"
I say
"and this is why you are
here, to collect something from me.
But this old rag is useless, save
for around animals,

on whose comfort I depend"

  1. Wow this is such an amazing thing to see. I believe that poetry cannot be truly translated as even the shape of each word on the page is of importance to me, but thanks so much for this interpretation.
