Chrysogonus' Translation #90 - from Susan Hawthorne's "Mind Wind"

Benak angin

benakku bak angin
gemerisik gelisah
bayu bermain dedaunan
pepohonan pun condong

benakku belum lagi badai
jika ia akan berteriak
menyambar badai lontar
panah cahaya ke bumi

benakku bukan hari tenang
tiada laut jaya menanti damai
baginya tiada Morpheus menabur
mimpi di permukaan

benakku bukan hawa musim semi
bersiul riang sepanjang jalan
hidup tak semudah itu

benakku bak angin semata

my mind is like wind
rustling and restless
wind playing in leaves
some trees are leaning in

my mind is not yet a storm
if it were it would bluster
and thunder and shoot
arrows of light earthward

my mind is not a calm day
no halcyon seas to becalm
itself no Morpheus to drag
dreams up to the surface

my mind is not a spring breeze
whistling jauntily along a lane
life is not that simple
my mind is just like the wind
