Claine Keily # 17 Walking through snow

She walked there
past the canals
and the rivers frozen
alone beside the sleepless hum
of industrial buildings
to get there
to say

She moved snow from her
mouth
but could not stay there
was not moneyed enough
to afford the cab fare
to warm
well lit places
to repair what had been broken
by the stories they told
of women dismembered, then
thrown into those rivers
women like her
alone
walking through snow
