Susan Hawthorne #161 out of reach

a day of leaves and vines
I climb the ladder two friends
human stabilisers keep me steady
I'm pulling at vines twice my height
don't look up I shout as leaves
sprinkle like rain    there's one
more step says my friend
so I climb higher grasping the
trunk for support leaning above
the abyss    I wish I had Heath
Roberston arm extenders or
the power of flight so I could
reach the last few strands

  1. I too stabilised a ladder today and you got it just right.

  2. How intrepid! A necessary daring; can't let those vines take hold. I am loving these glimpses of your life on the land.

  3. love the poetic ambiguity of the last lines too
