Lisa Brockwell #11 Alderley Edge

Alderley Edge

The cave where Merlin kept his magic safe
is tucked under this hill. All is green
and glowing in summer glory; Manchester,
distant and glittering, a promised land.
I could drink a case of you…. ringing
in my ears as I run up the path,
past the cows ….and still I’d be on my feet.

This draft was inspired by Rosemary Nissen-Wade’s  ‘Somewhere, Some Day’, (post #6) an engagement with a form of 55 words, including a reference to a line from a tear-jerker song.  The song I have used is Joni Mitchell’s ‘Case of you’.

  2. I fell in love with this immediately – and then was thrilled to discover that one of my own drafts helped to inspire it. :)
