but I hover

procrastinate

things are static

in the meantime

make small things

trying to retrieve

go back to that time

when making was easier

when I tore through

discovering new ways

trying new media

but not always

sometimes you sit

and ponder

thinking about how

to tap into that well

and where is the opening

just like the constant dream

about making that thing

and thinking about my father

thinking

how he bought some big chalk

thinking about writing some slogans

that never got written

not because he didn’t have slogans

and talking about printing slogans

on small sticky labels

but not printing them

even though he was already thinking

of where to stick them

doing it surreptitiously

avoiding detection

but thing is

if you want the sticker

in a public place

you have to stick it

in plain view

now he’s gone

but the chalk remains

and we use it to write signs
