Chrysogonus #8 - Visiting Ribersborg

there was no season
in the changing room
of this sauna

they stripped away
their jackets, clothes
forgetting the autumn chill

chests laid bare
their white, radiant skins
bright neon

the only white thing about –
my white t-shirt –

my flabby belly, their washboard abs
loose skin on my arms, their hard biceps

yet in the steam room
beer cans of all colours
all over the place

jokes were thrown
gossip exchanged
laughter blind to colour

or age, or body shapes
all talk of the girls next door
or the best bar in town

the naked flock we were
in sweat, in steam

naked truth
we were just
children of earth

the children of this planet

that’s what the nakedness is about
