Kit Kelen #218 - these certain loves

218
these certain loves

morning when webs first light

wings and the eyes with

smoke is for up
or for otherwise telling

steam so tea

who does the rotating here?

creek runs hard to its river meaning

I firmly believe one thing
leads to another

let's instance
the track just where you've trod
and that's a kind of pointing too

I love the utility of each thing
grown to its tune

after the cattle graze
roos do too
and roos were there before

no such thing as empty paddock
it's only what a fence says
you can count the posts

wind sings through the wire
there's rustle for rhythm

back of the sheep gets round your neck
by skill of hand through centuries

I love the past
that it's brought me so far
hearts swell with the effort
of roof over head

each sung toil
feeds mind to know

see the web just catching light?

I love the truth
of things themselves
such as no words require
but blessing ever as to be
with the simple here-we-are
comes of being me

I love that you're here with me too
some would call that love
the hand-in-hand and on we go
together the one way

it's not much more
than conversation

and sunshine
how the windows catch it
welcome views and light indoors

melody and harmony
as any turning world suggests
when there is a branch-through flit
spirits within coo-ee

the every-corner
as eye casts
there's to be known
facts of the matter

I love the hundred years from now
when I'll have played my part
when all my disappearing's done
I hope for welcome absence then

I love the shining distances
as after rain or in a dream
what light strikes now is true
must be

in and of the day chord
and in the cadence down to night

fire is dinner and dinner is sleep
steps of a dance between

I love the elemental aspect
you watch the rain fall
next day it's parsley rising
and months away
you shower in it –
that must be patience learned

here's the sun again
and put on the washing
peg it out
hello breeze
bring in

each leaf falls mulchward
each cloud to an oblivion points
so we are shown the way

                                                                    what bird is that?
