Linda Stevenson #10 August 10 Blunted

Blunted

Let it go. Ease up.
Once papyrus, now
Egyptian highlights
stream across
your desk, musk
on leather.  Journals
are pasted up,
italics bold,
the reading lamp
as green
as the library’s was.
Enough.
I can still read
your latent
paragraphs, even as
our old sun sets;
and we know
the sharpest stylus
blunts at last.
Time out. No point
in hustling.
