#173 ‘How to get
something important done’
You talk a
little, then you talk some more,
you wait for the
crucial meetings to pass,
then talk a
little more, then press the point
but not too
hard, you wonder who it might
be best to talk
to now,
and everyone’s
so agreeable,
everyone so
equally equal
but they’re not,
you’ve been told,
so you talk some
more, then you talk
a little more,
but not too much,
you choose the
place where you talk with care,
until someone
hears you talk
and they talk to
you too, and gradually
the people around
here that you talked to
know what it is
you will want to talk about
when you see
them,
and so it gets a
little easier to talk,
then you talk
some more but not so much
that it might
seem you’re telling someone
what to do, or
even what you’ll do,
it can’t be
rushed, it needs this talk,
this settling
talk and something else
that happens
round the talk, beside the talk,
as the rivers form
a lake that settles to a shape
and a depth and
a salty life all its own.
This would make a great performance piece!☺
