Anna Couani #151

orange maybe saffron lines on paper
powdered pigment that is so fine
it gets everywhere
thorough like politicians
trying to cover all bases
making up infuriating justifications
the pigment mixed with wax medium
slathered across the whole surface
concealing the original painting
now the task is to scratch back
find what already exists
figure out where everything is
those large pink petals
the thick greasy surface
sits there, leathery
defiant
but with just a few scratches
rosy pinkness beams through
glowing coolly in the darkness
real meaning just out of reach

  3. I love them too. The reflection on politicians so apt, as well.
