Susan Hawthorne #168 odd things you learn

how to fold an archive box
in the fewest moves
to keep it sturdy with books

the first is so difficult
you think how will I ever
get all these books packed?

by the twentieth fold up
you are getting the hang of the order
by the hundredth you're an expert

eighteen months later you unpack
the boxes need to return them to flat
can't remember the order

the first is a mess but learning
to unfold is quicker and by
the tenth you are a dab hand

  1. The making, the unmaking... nice weaving and unweaving.

  3. 'learning/to unfold is quicker' sounds like the first line of another poem! I enjoyed this one, Susan

  4. I have been thinking about the possibility of another poem - but nothing yet.
