I notice the things that go up
lie in the dirt and look at stones
over there the crest of the hill
the eyebrow river in the valley below
I follow the dark spaces
in the sky above between stars
I am trying to remember
songs before the writing
the spaces between stars
how can the knowing
of the dark and the down
be known?
